Creating a PDF from your Google Docs™ document should be simple, but if you use “Tabs” to organize your work, you’ve probably run into some frustrating limitations.

You might have tried a few things:

Using Google Docs’ “Download” Menu: This works, but it only lets you download the single tab you’re currently viewing. You can’t save the entire document as one clean PDF.
Using Google Drive’s “Download” Menu: This lets you download the whole file, but not as a PDF. You have to download it as a Word file (.docx) first and then convert it, which is an extra step.
Using the “Print” Menu: This is the most common workaround. You can “Print to PDF” to get the whole document, but Google Docs™ automatically inserts an extra title page for every single tab. Your clean, one-page invoice suddenly becomes two pages, with an unwanted cover sheet.

Our add-on fixes this problem by giving you two powerful and easy ways to create the perfect PDF.

For Full Customization: Export with Options…

When you need full control over the final file, use the Export with Options… feature. You can find it in the add-on’s sidebar under the Document section, or in the main Add-on menu.

This opens a simple dialog where you can choose your desired format and control advanced settings.

How to Export without Title Pages

This is the magic feature! To get one clean, continuous PDF, follow these steps.

Open the Export Dialog From the sidebar, open the Document section and click Export with Options….
Configure Your Export In the dialog that appears:
- Set Export Format to PDF (.pdf).
- Expand the Advanced Export Options section.
- Ensure Export Scope is set to Export all document tabs.
- Check the box next to Do not create tab title pages.
Export the Document Click the Export button. The add-on intelligently stitches your document together, removing all of those extra cover sheets. The file will be prepared and then automatically downloaded by your browser.

For Maximum Speed: One-Click Download as PDF

For those times when you just need a clean PDF of the entire document right now, we’ve created a one-click solution. It can be found in the sidebar as Download as PDF or in the main menu as Quick Export to PDF. Both options instantly start creating a complete PDF of your document with all the unwanted title pages already removed.

If your document has more than 30 tabs, the add-on provides special handling to ensure your export is successful and reliable.

Quick Export to PDF / Download as PDF

If you use the one-click option on a large document, you will see a “Too many Tabs” error message. This is expected, as this feature is optimized for speed on smaller documents. The error will guide you to use the more powerful Export with Options… feature instead.

Export with Options…

When you open this dialog for a large document, you’ll see a warning message at the top. The add-on will intelligently pre-select “Export specific document tabs” to get you started.

From here, you have two choices:

Best for a Clean PDF: Export a Selection This is the recommended approach. Simply check the boxes for the tabs you need (up to 30) and make sure “Do not create tab title pages” is enabled. You’ll get a perfect, clean PDF of just the parts you selected.
Best for the Full Document: Export All (with Titles) You can still choose “Export all document tabs”. When you do, you’ll notice the “Do not create tab title pages” switch becomes disabled. This is intentional. It allows the add-on to use a faster, more robust method to export the entire document at once. You will get a complete PDF of all your tabs, but it will include the standard title pages.

Which One Should You Use?

Use Export with Options… when you need a different format (like Word), want to export only your current tab, or need to manage a large document with over 30 tabs.
Use Download as PDF for the fastest way to get a clean, complete PDF of a standard-sized document without any extra pages.
