Translate Text or Tables to Another Language
Learn how to translate selected text or entire tables using the Text To Table Converter Add-On in Google Docs™, Google Slides™, and Google Sheets™.
With the Text To Table Converter Add-On, you can easily translate selected text snippets or entire tables into another language directly within Google Docs™, Google Slides™, and Google Sheets™.
AI usage: Each run uses one AI request. The free plan includes 25 AI requests every 30 days; Pro is unlimited. AI Permission in Settings must allow AI.
Translating Text#
Use this feature to translate paragraphs, sentences, or any selected text block.
- Select the Text
Highlight the text within your document that you wish to translate.
Example Text:
Emily enjoys the quiet moments of her morning, holding a warm latte just the way she likes it. Smooth espresso, creamy oat milk, and a touch of cinnamon make each sip perfect. She loves how the oat milk adds a gentle sweetness that balances the coffee.Tip: Your selected text can be in any language.
- Choose Target Language
Use either:
- Sidebar:
Extensions>Text To Table Converter>⚡ Launch Sidebar, then open Writing Tools. Under Selection Conversions, pick a language in Transform & Translate to and click Translate. - Menu:
Extensions>Text To Table Converter>Selection Conversions>Translate>Translate to …
- View the Result
The translated text will be inserted directly below your original selection or at the end of the document.
Other languages: The sidebar and menu offer 10 shortcut languages. To use any other language from the list below, set Translation Language in Settings, then choose Custom in the sidebar or
Translate using language from settingsin the menu.
Translating Tables#
You can also translate the content of entire tables while preserving their structure and formatting.
- Select the Table(s)
Position your cursor inside the table you wish to modify, or select the entire table explicitly. You can also select several tables.
Selection Tips: Google Sheets™: You must select the specific range of cells that contains the table data you want to adjust.
- Choose Target Language
Use either:

Extensions>Text To Table Converter>⚡ Launch Sidebar, then open Writing Tools > Selection Conversions > Translate - Menu:
Extensions>Text To Table Converter>Selection Conversions>Translate>Translate to …
- View the Result
A new table with the translated text keeps the original structure. In Google Docs™, the new table is added at the end of the document. In Google Slides™, it is placed at the top-left of the slide, on top of other content. In Google Sheets™, the result goes to a new worksheet named Translation. Your original table is not changed.
