Smart Memory

Smart Memory checks text against a reference document you choose, such as a style guide, product sheet, or fact list. The reference is a Google Doc, and it can hold up to 250,000 characters.

Open Smart Memory#

• Sidebar: Extensions > Text To Table Converter > ⚡ Launch Sidebar, then choose Smart Memory under More tools.
• Menu (Docs, Sheets, Slides): Extensions > Text To Table Converter > Smart Memory > Select Document, View Selected Document, or More Options in Sidebar...

Typical workflow#

1. Open Smart Memory and choose your reference Google Doc.
2. To fact-check, select the text in your file and run Fact-Check. It uses your current selection and asks you to select text first if nothing is selected.
3. The result shows a verdict (Consistent, Contradictory, Partial Match, or Not Found in Memory) with an explanation and the matching sources.
4. For anything else, type an instruction in the box and run Custom Prompt. It answers using your reference document.
5. Click Copy Response to reuse the answer.

Manage the reference document#

• The sidebar shows how full it is, for example Memory: 12,400 / 250,000 chars. When it is full, remove content or choose another document.
• The open icon opens the document in a new tab so you can edit it.
• The trash icon unlinks the document from Smart Memory. The document itself is not deleted.
