Manage Comments in Google Docs™ and Sheets™
Find, filter, reply to, resolve, reopen, delete, and export comments from the Google Doc or Sheet you currently have open.
Comment Manager gives you one place to review every open and resolved comment on the current Google Doc or Google Sheet. Filter a long review by author or status, then apply the same action to several comment threads at once.
Use it to clear a review backlog, post a consistent reply across related feedback, reopen comments that need more work, or export the full discussion history for reporting and follow-up.

Text To Table Converter
Install Text To Table Converter free, then use Comment Manager with a Pro plan in Google Docs™ and Google Sheets™.
Google Docs™ and Google Sheets™
Comment Manager is a Pro feature that works on the file you currently have open. It is not available in Google Slides™ or Google Forms™.
Open Comment Manager
- 1Open the Google Doc or Google Sheet whose comments you want to manage.
- 2Open the Text To Table Converter add-on.
- 3From the sidebar, choose Document Tools, find the Comments section, and click Manage Comments. You can also use Extensions > Text To Table Converter > Document Tools > Manage Comments.
- 4Wait for Comment Manager to load the open and resolved comment threads from the current file.
Find and select the right comments
- Search across comment text, the highlighted text or cell content attached to the comment, and the author name.
- Choose an author to focus on feedback from one reviewer.
- Switch between All, Open, and Resolved to narrow the list by status.
- Use Select all to add every currently visible comment to the selection, or Clear to remove the selection.
- Review each thread’s author, status, date, source context, comment text, and reply count before acting.
Filter before selecting
Combine search, author, and status filters first, then use Select all to target only the comments visible in that filtered list.
Apply an action to selected comments
Select one or more threads, then choose the action you want to apply. The result message reports how many comments were processed and how many failed.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Reply | Posts the same reply text to every selected comment thread. |
| Resolve | Marks every selected thread as resolved. |
| Reopen | Returns every selected resolved thread to open status. |
| Delete | Permanently removes every selected comment thread and all of its replies. |
Deleted comments cannot be restored
Check the selected count before confirming Delete. Deleting a thread also removes its replies and cannot be undone.
Suggestions are separate
Tracked-change suggestions are not comments. Replying to, resolving, reopening, or deleting comments does not affect suggestions in the file.
Export comments and replies to Google Sheets™
Click Export to sheet to create a new spreadsheet named after the source file. The export includes the complete comment history from the current file, regardless of the active filters or selected comments.
- Each comment receives its own row with type, author, date and time, highlighted text or cell content, status, content, and a link back to the source thread.
- Each reply receives a separate row below its parent comment.
- Resolve and reopen events appear in the reply history even when they do not contain reply text.
- The source Google Doc or Sheet and its comment threads remain unchanged by the export.
