Transcribe Audio or YouTube
Transcribe an uploaded audio file or supported public YouTube source, with optional timestamps and speaker labels, then insert or download the result.
Audio Transcription is available from the Document Tools menu in Docs, Slides, and Sheets. It uses AI processing and is separate from Voice Reader, which generates speech in the browser.
Create a transcript
- 1Open Document Tools and choose Transcribe Audio / YouTube.
- 2Upload a supported audio file or paste a supported public YouTube URL.
- 3Choose timestamps, speaker labels, and any available language option.
- 4Review the transcript, then insert it into the active host or download the available text/subtitle output.
Where inserted results go
- Google Docs: paragraphs at the cursor.
- Google Slides: speaker notes or a text box.
- Google Sheets: transcript rows in a new sheet.
